Types of Partner Visas:
The partner visas follow a two-part process. Initially, a temporary visa will be granted, allowing the applicant to travel and stay in Australia until the second part of the application is required and finalised.

  • Offshore Partner Visa (Apply from Outside Australia)

Part I Subclass 309 (Provisional) leading to Part II Subclass 100 (Permanent) - Subclass 309 is a temporary visa that lets you live in Australia while your permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 100) is processed.

  • Onshore Partner Visa (Apply from Inside Australia)

Part I Subclass 820 (Provisional) leading to Part II Subclass 801 (Permanent) - Subclass 820 is a temporary visa that allows you to stay in Australia while awaiting the decision on your permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 801).

If you are not yet married, but wish to get married in Australia, then a Subclass 300 Prospective marriage visa will allow you to come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for the 2 step partner visa
