The new UK Super Priority Visa Services in Jakarta: What You Need to Know

What is the Super Priority Visa?

A Super Priority Visa (SPV) is an optional, paid service that customers in select locations around the world can purchase, in addition to the visa fee, to receive a faster decision on their visa application. This is the first time customers in Jakarta will be able to take advantage of the optional Super Priority Service. The service launched in Jakarta on 20th March 2024, and can be purchased online and at the Visa Application Centre before submitting your biometrics. Please note that SPV cannot be purchased retrospectively.

Who is it for?

There is a long list of visa categories who are eligible for this service applying in Jakarta:

  • All visitor visa customers

  • Overseas Domestic Worker

  • Short term student

How long does it take to process?

If your appointment is on a weekday you’ll usually get a decision by the end of the next working day after your appointment, or if your appointment is at the weekend or on a bank holiday the decision is usually within 2 working days.

It can take longer than 2 working days, for example, if the Home Office needs to ask you for more information.

Currently the processing time for a Standard UK visa is 15 working days, priority service generally yields a result within 5 working days, so the super priority is a great additional service for those needing a quick turnaround time on their visa decision.

How much does it cost?

If you are eligible to apply for it, the fee for the Super Priority Visa Service is currently £1,000, plus the standard fee for the type of visa being applied for.

"I am delighted the Super Priority Visa service is being launched in Jakarta. We expect this new service to be particularly useful for business, students, and travelers in order to accommodate urgent requirements at very short notice. This is designed to give greater flexibility to our customers and underlines our strong commitment to making improvements to the visa services we offer for Indonesians traveling to the UK." -British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Dominic Jermey

Our Thoughts

Since the cessation of in-country visa processing in Indonesia in 2012, securing a UK visa in less than five working days has been a significant challenge. This has been a considerable inconvenience for the business community and Indonesian family members of British nationals, who often require urgent travel for compelling or compassionate reasons. Previously, the standard five-working-day service was insufficient for those needing to make immediate travel arrangements. The availability of a 24-working-hour turnaround option is a game-changer, for those needing to travel to the UK without delay. This enhanced service will undoubtedly meet the critical and time-sensitive needs of a section of our client base.

Additional Information

You may get a refund of the priority service fee if you cancel your visa application. It depends on how you were told to prove your identity and what stage your application is at. You usually cannot get your money back when you’ve applied.

The very latest visa decision waiting times for each visa category are published on gov.uk. This also includes additional information about the priority services for those applying outside of the UK.
